The history of the DRA


In 1962 The Dartington Hall Trust made available to the parish 11 acres of land. Given at a peppercorn rent for 99 years, the land was to be used for recreation - cricket, football, swimming and such like. The Dartington Recreation Association was set up to manage the land and to make it available to clubs and residents.

The 11 acres include the football pitch opposite the petrol station, the swimming pool and pavilion, the play area outside the Meadowbrook Social Club and the car park. The boundary of the DRA land can be seen on the picture below.
